VT Inclusive Education Professional Learning
SWIFT Education Center provided the Vermont Agency of Education support for its statewide inclusive practices professional learning program. Staff conducted a literature review to frame the work in the most current research and identified model sites in Vermont, that is, schools that practiced integrated education for students with significant disabilities, who contributed their Vermont-based perspectives and experiences to subsequent professional learning activities. From these two foundational resources, SWIFT wrote a White Paper on the role of special educators in inclusive schools, provided input to a new Vermont MTSS Field Guide, conducted two professional learning conferences in the northern and southern regions of Vermont, and produced a webinar for the agency to share with educators who were not able to attend one of the conferences.
