State benchmarking, healthcare outcomes, and implications for people with disabilities.
The proposed research study will provide needed information to advocates and federal and state policymakers on the insurance status, access to care, and employment outcomes experienced by people with disabilities under ACA insurance reforms. The HRMS is an ideal vehicle for this research because it provides rapid turnaround data on the health and health insurance status of a nationally representative sample of US non-institutionalized citizens beginning in 2013, prior to opening of the ACA marketplaces and federal funding for Medicaid expansion. Dr. Hall will contribute expertise in study design and analytic methods and participate in interpretation of findings, synthesis and dissemination of results. Ms. Kurth will assist in analyzing state-level insurance structure, interpretation of findings, and developing manuscripts.
