Palmer Gives Presidential Address at AAIDD

In her new capacity as president of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, Susan Palmer delivered the presidential address at the annual AAIDD conference held June 1-4 in Louisville, Ky. Her talk keynoted a plenary session on “Making a Difference Through Research, Practice and Policy.”

President-elect in 2014-15, Palmer also chaired the conference. She is a research professor at the Beach Center on Disability and the Kansas University Center on Developmental Disabilities.

Other presenters at AAIDD included Steve Warren, professor of speech-language-hearing, and Michael Wehmeyer, professor of special education and director of the Beach Center on Disability and the Kansas University Center on Developmental Disabilities. They addressed another plenary session, “What Do We Know from Research, Practice and Policy.”
